How to change password in SAP ?

In each and every application or software user have some functionality to update his or her own password to protect their data or work process. Even in some application or software have functionality to ask user to change his or her password after particular time period.

SAP system also provide the same functionality to user, We have several way to change password in SAP, below we will discuss about all the possible ways how to change password in SAP?

1. SAP CHANGE PASSWORD BEFORE LOGIN.
2. CHANGE PASSWORD IN SAP AFTER LOGIN.
3. SAP PASSWORD RESET SELF SERVICE.

SAP change password before login

IN LOGIN SCREEN BY USING NEW PASSWORD

This is the first way to change your password of SAP ID, follow the below mention steps to change password in login screen by picture.

STEP 1.) Open your SAP instance and fill the required entries like user id, password, logon language and client code like below mention picture.

STEP 2.) Now click on New Password tab or click menu bar then click on new password and enter New Password and Repeat password then click on transfer or press enter like below mention Image. Your password will be changed.

After login into the system by using SAP user menu

We can change or update the password after login into the system by using SAP user menu. Follow the below steps to change password from SAP Menu.

STEP 1.) Login into SAP system instance and go to the menu bar click on system then user profile own data [MENU-SYSTEM-USER PROFILE-OWN DATA]. like showing in below picture.

STEP 2.) Now Maintain User Profile window will open in your system here you need to click on Password button or from menu bar click on Edit and change password [MENU-EDIT-CHANGE PASSWORD] like showing in below picture.

STEP 3.) When you click on password tab new dialogue box change password for user user id will open with entry in field Old password, New password and Repeat, password enter the old password then new password and repeat password then press enter or click on change password button like showing in below picture.

Your password has been changed.

SAP password reset self service

SAP ADMINISTRATOR BY BASIS CONSULTANT

Password update by sap administrator or basis consultant is need whenever we forget the password or entered the wrong password more than 3 times and system asking password logon no longer possible – too many failed attempts.

In this case we will ask the administrator or basis consultant to reset the password and he will reset the password mail us the default password.

Process the basis consultant follow to reset password after password logon no longer possible – too many failed attempts is discussed below.

STEP 1.) Basis consultant will open his super user ID then Enter transaction code SU01 (User Maintenance) in command box.

STEP 2.) Here in user maintenance : initial screen window enter user id in use input box and click on lock button to unlock the user id.
