Now we are providing 3 easy and working methods to disable Windows Defender in Windows 10 /Security features from your PC/Laptop either permanently or on a temporary basis.

Our PC/Laptop can be a vulnerable asset for hackers and malicious programs when we disable or uninstall Microsoft Windows Defender from Windows. That’s why we don’t recommend disabling or uninstalling Microsoft Windows Defender unless you have an antivirus or security software.

1.Disable Windows Defender from Windows Security

• First click on the Start button then type Windows Security

• After clicking on Windows Protection, click on Virus & Threat Protection

• Now under Virus & threat protection section click on Manage settings

• Now Turn off Real time protection by click on toggle switch and Disable windows defender Windows 10.

• After following these above steps you disable windows defender windows 10 from windows security.

2.PowerShell command turn off antivirus in windows 10

Click on the search bar and type PowerShell, then right click on the PowerShell option and select Run as administrator as shown in the image below:

After that Windows PowerShell command line will open and then you need to type below command and press enter to disable windows defender

Set-MpPreference -DisableRealtimeMonitoring $true

After typing above command you will get notification from windows defender threat defender protection has been turned off.

Windows Defender will be disabled until the next reboot.

Note: This is a temporary solution to disable Windows Defender, so it is automatically enabled when you restart your system. Now in the next solution we will discuss how to disable Windows Defender permanently.

3.How to disable windows defender Group Policy

Using Group Policy you can disable Windows Defender permanently if you have the professional version of Windows 10. We use the gpedit.msc command to complete this process.

Most important things is that First you have to disable Tamper Protection of windows defender after that you can disable windows defender by Group Policy (gpedit.msc)

Now first of all we are providing Tamper Protection Disable procedure because Tamper Protection feature is built in to protect Windows Defender from unauthorized activities.

This is necessary, because if we disable windows defender by group policy without disabling tamper protection then it will be enabled automatically after system restart. The procedure for tampering with the disabled is as follows:-

Disable Tamper protection

• First click on the Start button then type Windows Security

• Now open Virus and threat protection

• Now under Virus & threat protection section click on Manage settings

• Now Turn off Tamper protection by click on toggle switch

After the completion of this process we can now start the process of permanently disabling Windows Defender by applying Group Policy changes.

Disable Process of Microsoft Defender from Group Policy

The procedure to permanently disable Microsoft Defender from Group Policy in Windows 10 is as follows:-

• Click on Search button and type Run after that type gpedit.msc command then press Enter.

• After pressing the Enter button, the Local Group Policy Editor will open.

Now Click on Computer Configuration—->Administrative Templates—–>Windows Components

In Windows Components click on that and click on Microsoft Defender Antivirus shown in below image.

After Right click then click on Edit, then click on Disable, then finally Apply then OK.  From this windows we can Disable /Enable both, so that we can make changes as per our requirement.

Now restart your PC/Laptop and then your antivirus will be disabled. This is a very simple and easy way to deactivate Windows Defender Antivirus.

Friend!! Once you have completed these 2 steps, Microsoft Defender Antivirus will be disabled on a permanent/temporary basis as per our requirement.

The important thing is that in your PC/Laptop, the “Shield” icon will still be there in the taskbar is this icon is part of the Windows security feature.

You can also Revert this changes by click or select not configured option on the same windows.

If you want revert changes Click on Not Configured option and then same Apply and click on OK.
